Exploring Taipei

The weather has been really nice and sunny mostly everyday in Taiwan so far! Having the good weather around makes me super happy everyday and even more excited to explore the city. I decided to take on a friend's suggestion and go to a artsy place called Huashan Creative Park, which has a mixture of some art galleries on display, some small shops that sold creative products and and also some small cafes and restaurants. We decided to walk around and take photos around the place and have a look around some art works that were on display.

After spending my morning at Huashan, we met up with a friend and went to a famous restaurant for Xiaolongbao "小籠包" which is also known as steamed dumplings. We also ordered some other small dishes like bitter melon, bean curd and some wheat gluten along with a bowl of noodles.

We also ordered the Beef Burrito(?) "牛肉捲餅" which has beef, shallots and cucumber wrapped inside a naan like pastry.

And of course, we ordered some xiaolongbao which are steamed dumplings; we ordered the white ones which are just ordinary pork flavoured and also the green ones which are supposedly vegetarian.

After lunch, we decided to walk around another district called Xinyi District which is an area that contains many popular department stores and famous buildings just like the photo below which is Taipei 101, possibly the most iconic building in Taiwan. All of this makes Xinyi District the most cosmopolitan district of Taipei, so whenever you go it's always fairly crowded.

As for dinner, we went to one of my must go to's in Taiwan; specifically it's a local Taiwanese goose meat diner in Yonghe District which is very close to where I live so I tend to go there all the time. The place is a small restaurant passed down by many generations pretty much translated into Tsai's Goose Meat, "老蔡鵝肉". Honestly, one of the places I look forward to eating at when I go back to Taiwan.

We always order the Goose Meat (which is an obvious must!), it comes with a special dipping sauce and tender ginger which is very different to the ginger you get here in Australia... It's a lot more delicate, flavoursome and less spicy which makes it the best condiment to pair with goose meat.

We also order some other dishes to go with our goose meat, like the goose fat rice which is amazing... they mix goose fat in with the rice to make it extra flavoursome! We also got the veges, bamboo shoots, soup and geese blood jelly? which is pretty much coagulated geese blood but as a food item! Both geese, pig or duck blood jelly/cake are extremely popular food items in Taiwan and even though it sounds extremely disgusting translated directly however it is a delicious cuisine.

Talking about blood jelly, another thing that I have to eat every time I go back to Taiwan is definitely the iconic Stinky Tofu and Pig Blood Jelly spicy soup. I always go to our local night market and order this.. one of the best things you'll ever eat! If any of you ever visit Taiwan make sure you find a good place and order this dish! They always pair it with chinese mushrooms and pickles to make everything more appetising. It smells stinky but it's like seriously heaven. A must try!

Anyway, i'm off now! Talk to you guys soon - please leave a comment below or follow me on Instagram if you have any suggestions, questions or just purely want to have a chat!
