Okay so not only did I go away to Sydney. I also went away for a few days to Brisbane as well (about an one hour drive from Gold Coast). So the first day, I spent some time with Alan at uni and we ate lunch at this delicious Korean owned burger place call Miel Container. The place looked like a shipment container which was pretty cool. The burgers though, they were amazing and super filling. I got the Miso Pork Belly burger and Alan got a custom made burger. The place is pretty famous for it's create your own burger as well which is always fun to order.
So as usual, every time I go to Brisbane I will definitely pay a visit to Passiontree! Alan and I got the S'mores and Latte combo and literally demolished it within seconds. To be honest, I don't even like marshmallows but this was seriously delicious. I am still craving it now.
I spent a few days exploring Brisbane whilst staying with my friend Hicky biab! She showed me around and was literally my tour guide (but getting lost together) around Brisbane. We drove to eat at this cafe called Plenty in West End which was pretty good! Honestly, so glad to have Hicky's company though, I thought I wouldn't get bored but honestly I feel like I would have gotten extremely bored and lonely if it wasn't for her.
Haha, you guys have probably realised by now that I am an extreme foodie and I love cafe hopping. So whilst I was in Brisbane I also got to catch up with one of my close friends from high school -Amy. So being the foodies we are, we went to a cafe that i've always wanted to go to called Shouk Cafe in Paddington. Even though late, Amy still shouted me lunch as my birthday present (super nice to have still remembered - I totally forgot).
Anyway, I ordered an Iced Chai latte as usual. It has somehow become an addiction to order a chai latte wherever I go these days . However, this is seriously the best chai i've had so far.

Clockwise: Latke Stack with Grilled Haloumi, Eggs Benedict, The Jackson and also my Pear and Caramel Waffles (must try!) |
And of course the drinks, the food presentation & timing along with the service was seriously 10/10.
The food all came out looking amazing and the other thing is that they all came out at the same time (which makes life a lot easier for foodies like myself to be able to take photos of everything on the table before someones food goes cold) Anyway, some people will defs be able to relate to how amazing this is.
I went and got some gifts for Alan's family who I will be staying with in Sydney and finally got some of the cherries for my Japanese friend Aoi who misses them a lot! Haha if you ever go, you definitely have to try the Mango Macadamias... They are amazing!
Hicky biab and I literally faced the biggest challenge of driving around Brisbane. She was my GPS for the 3 days spent in Brisbane haha. Can't believe how well we managed and survived in the world's top three rated worst road structure - Brisbane city. Seriously so many one way streets all of a sudden and merging lanes and so many cars.
Anyway, we managed to drive to Indooroopilly shopping centre in Brisbane which was super!
So excited to finally shop there for the first time. To be honest though, there wasn't really anything amazingly special and different about it, there were just some shops that the Gold Coast still doesn't have like H&M and Koko Black - which I definitely went to when I was at Indooroopilly. The rest of the shops were pretty much the same haha.
Hicky and I went to Koko Black and ordered a super chocolatey dessert (which I have forgotten the name of) and a babyccino.
I also bought a six pack of chocolates from Koko Black to bring back to my parents!
Finally, I got to try Pressed Juices for the first time as well. It was actually pretty good.
The Strawberry Mylk is definitely my fav after trying all of the other flavours.
However, just a bit too pricey for my everyday liking... $9.50 for a 470mL of juice.
Anyway, I'm actually really really excited and feel like all the hard work has finally paid off. I am finally flying back to Taiwan! I haven't been back since two years ago, so i'm super excited to visit my family and pretty much spend a whole month in Taiwan just full of eating and shopping. (what I do best)
Until next time,
- Miss Ting Chen
